Ship To Ship Interaction, the tug was caught in the low pressure midships region of the sub, there's a high pressure region aft where? the stern of the ship and wake is located (also one forward on the bow wake), this combined with possibly some fin attached to the sub aft which is submerged and out of site, temporarily snagged the tug and it went side on and capsized.. I'm not a sub expert but this is "Ship To Ship Interaction" if people would like to read further.

The tug should have thrown a line to the sub, but the sub may not have had her deck fittings out to make it fast. I was on a YTM, and a YTB, they are single? screw vessels. The engine on the tug cut out, so the skipper was not able to back down. As the sub turned she pulled the tug into her side. The sub skipper did go astern, but these things take time.

Sounds like the tug's skipper fucked up then, it would seem the whole purpose of having such a powerful craft employed? for ferrying supplies on/ off the sub would be to counteract such"hydrodynamic force" assuming those "planes" are avoided. Skipper should have backed off immediately to starboard with engines in full reverse until well clear of the sub. Just another example of an accident due to complacency.

Because submarines dock while above water, and need tugs to push them to the? dock. The hatches were open with less than two minutes between the tug losing engine power and sinking. Let's see you dive a sub with open hatches then talk about people dying. Subs don't stop on a dime; they weigh tens of thousands of tons. The deck officer saw a problem and tried to swing the stern around (see hard left rudder at 1:23). There are no idiots on this sub. Only in this thread.

that's why there are rules in place for competitive tug of war. The rope has to be 1 1/2 inches in diameter and 110 ft long nobody will be able to put enough humans on a regulation rope to brake it. Accidents happen when some dumb idiots use small ropes and put too many people on it. In the 50 year history of the? International Tug of War Federation not one rope snapped.

I've been on tugs as well, and i've never seen any Captain or Mate do this at the speed this was being done. I'd have to say its? quite Dangerous. I've been on Mcallister, Moran, Turecamo and Eklof tugs and never seen anyone do that. I don't know of any tug even with 6,000+hp that can do over 13 knots, maybe the Invader class tug of Crowley that have 7,200hp. Anyway,If you lose your main engines, its over.

13 kn? - very good speed for a harbour tug :> i've worked on a modern harbour tug? with azimuth thrusters in combo with 2x 2500HP CATERPILLAR engines and it's maximum was 11. anyway looks impressive when this operation is being done at speed 13 knots and in front of this big vessel

Marshal signaled stop up until 0:39 when he started walking away. At that point the pilots probably assumed that the tug had been connected and they released the brake. Plane rolled forward and pilots assumed it was being tugged until they either felt the tug or were radioed to stop. It? wasn't a brake failure since they were able to stop after the collision. Don't know why the marshal would stop signalling before the tug was connected. Miscommunication on the ground? there b/w marshal and crew

Dont normally have all engines running unless? clear of jetway? Even with non-func APU. Obviously forgot the park brake! Oh as for being expensive, it might not damage the gear itself- obviously designed for heavier weight on it but think if lights, hydraullic cables, tyre gouges, pierced liquid pistons etc....could add up to a decent bill. Not something the AA could fix! - Cool Vid !!

This is great! I love boxers because they are very gentle with children. When my daughter was two we got a boxer that we had rescued from the animal shelter. Our room, at the time, was in the finished basement of? my mother's house. Sampson would stay with her until she woke. When she got out of bed she would take hold of his collar and he would walk her up the stairs. If she let go for any reason he would stop and wait for her to take hold again. They are loving and protective of children.

Where are the statistics that dogs "tire of the game of nip"? Which dog's thoughts have been recorded? Dogs that know where they stand in the family pack (parents/children are above the dog in rank) would not so much as attempt more than a playful? nip. The problem does not lie with dogs; it lies with humans not being educated or intelligent enough to train the animal in a way that the animal should be trained. These parents are perfectly lovely and are not doing a thing to endanger their baby.

I have to say though after having been in the Marine Corps and deployed on a ship I can se how that life could become addictive. We chased and caught a category 4 hurricane and I thought I was going to be at least nervous but I actually thought the huge? pitch and roll was quite cool actually.
