I am against "legislation" for? animal control. The last thing we need in our lives is more government telling us what to do. It is up to the owners to control their animals and if something bad happens then it is their responsibility to rectify the situation. If someone is killed or maimed by an out of control animal, the I am all for HARSH penalties, not creating some more regulations.

So if any legislation is to be put out, either outlaw them all, none at all, or punish the owners that are irresponsible & charge them w/murder and restrict WHO gets to own an animal, everyone registers every pet they have w/the city, that'll solve the entire thing! Now don't you forget to list the wolf-hybrids and huskies and chows. ? I've seen a student w/ a bitten face and torn arm. Those damned dogs are mean, well the ones who aren't trained to behave are. I myself had rescued a husky as a kid, my dad never got him neutered & he went around biting everyone. He had been abandoned by his previous owners. I should know that these breeds won't hesitate to attack a kid entering a yard or a stranger, for that matter!

You can call a well-trained dog back, but not a bullet. If an attacker enters a home and tries to like assault a woman, she can use the dog to protect her rather than explaining why she killed the person w/a gun and the person lives but she lives too & it is a city-issued dog licensed for protection work. I myself would rather have a dog than a gun & have to? explain I had to shoot to kill a rapist or murderer who entered my home to attack me.

That's a fact. You're right on that, for sure! Good dogs, good bloodlines, responsible owners--that goes for any breed of dog, and this one b/c of the locking jaws, but other breeds can be problematic if the owner is an uneducated idiot and trains the dog to fight and kill everything in its path. But guard dogs in? a house trained by the city & bought by civilians is fine in dangerous cities of victims of violent crime like rape as long as they're secured.

The pit actually would fall under the other breeds of dog attacks on? humans/animals. People don't always report the other breed attacks, just the pits b/c they've been trained in Roman times and to this date to attack by thugs but the responsible owners have great dogs b/c they temperament test and everything w/high-quality bloodlines well socialized and w/o the aggression gene or behavior. But the wild hogs in TX & FL running lose are hunted by these dogs, too, which is good.

They just have to be raised around children and other animals from puppyhood and learn to 'release' on command when playing tug of war, which is probably not a good game if you aren't the owner until they get to 'know' you. The smaller breeds scare the heck out of me and are usu. more aggressive than the large breed dogs. The top 10 dog bite list needs to be revised b/c huskies and chows and wolf mixes are actually at the top in reality! The pit is only there b/c of? the 'locking jaws.'

Yes, Pit Bulls are big babies and have a puppy face. It's the ones that come from bad breeding or bloodlines with the aggressive gene or that are chained up, beaten, made to fight and it's 99.9% the human's fault. There are more attacks from wolfdogs and wolf hybrids and huskies, etc. A chow will more likely rip a kid or person's face off than a 'nice' well-mannered? and socialized pit bull. I even drew a blood sample on a pit that held still the whole time & was good.

FUCK THAT. I have seen a good pit bull who was never mistreated, slip a cog and just MAUL a kid for no reason. It was one of the most horrible things I have ever witnessed. sorry to hear that happened, but could have been any breed. To be honest just like you said, he was giving off bad energy every time he was near the dog. Pits are? very intuned to peoples emotions, they know when your sad, or mad. This sketchy guy came to his property and never showed him affection, that gave off bad vibes. He was most likely protecting his family. People need how to learn to act according around dogs, or not be around them. Majority of bites would most likely not have happened.

I miss my pitbulls!!! 4 years ago mine died!! Then recently me and my hubby rescued this baby pitbull 3 weeks old! she was all alone crying on the streets!! I fell in love with her 3. I didn't want to be away from her ever, I named? her lucy, but we gave her away because she needed the vet and could not afford it!! 3:03- yeah that looks real vicious. My Blue nose Pitt was tied to a post outside a barn where my dad works and he actually sat with her for a long time. She was beaten severely, starved almost to death and was bleeding from her rear. Thankfully now she's a beautiful, healthy, and active dog whose parents dote on her. All she wants to do is kiss mommy and daddy and curl? up with them. For the record, during the power outage in CT, she kept me warm at night by laying almost on my chest.

The reason people do not hear about border collies, golden retrievers and? other "family dogs" attacking people is because people only want to focus on the bad things that HUMANS have caused. Two years ago I was put in the hospital by a standard poodle. Twenty-seven stitched and 14 staples later, I could not wait to go home and curl up with my 4 pit bulls. Two of those pits were rescued fighters who were? fighting EACH OTHER in a fight the night my uncle broke it up. He threw both dogs in the back of his patrol car. When he returned he found the dogs curled up with each other asleep. They have not been separated since and I will never own anything but pits.

You are correct, not all dogs randomly attack people. Only dogs with bad owners do. I have? 3 children ranging from 8 to 2 and my Pitt Mary Bear is 9 years old. She has defended us and protected us several times. She has an instinct that I have never seen another do have. Maybe before you spew worthless word vomit you should do some research. Yes they were descended from dogs bred for bull baiting and pit fighting? in England. So obviously they have a bad past reputation. This crosses over into today. Also, why do you object so much to strict licensing and owner licensing for such powerful dogs? Everyone on here says how nice the dogs are, well then why not license all dogs and owners.
