How did you get that dog to walk like that so quickly? I struggled with my 30+ Kg Labrador who would drag me down the street. Several dog trainers and hundreds of dollars later, she us now living with a family and their 4 Labs in a 100 acre farm. She's a happy dog, we keep in touch with her family, but we missed her heaps, specially my youngest daughter, and I wish there were more dog trainers like you in? Sydney(Australia)

What do you do when the dog starts pulling during the walk, even if a little since he doesn't know? how to walk nicely yet? Just prevent him from going forwards any more and then relaxing the leash? Did you just put him back in his place in the elevator when he tried to step out, and then stepped out when he wasn't trying to go out anymore? My dog pulls like that, so i'd really appreciate the answer^^...

never show affection, treat or praise a dog when it is in the wrong state, bc then you are only negotiating or bribing the? dog to do something instead. that will not build trust. Many people attempt to throw treats at an aggressive dog or dog while he is shaking while repeating its ok! (in the wrong tone and energy). Timing is key!

Me treating u the same as every other dog, and working u through? what u fear to show you that everytime i work you through it, nothing bad actually happens? Or feel bad and treat you different and say "its ok" we wont go for a walk today bc you are scared?" Now when dealing with a dog that you cant even get close to, this is where timing/patience come into play along with understanding you energy and how you are presenting your body through you approach (from the dogs POV)

ON another note...my advice to you is to understand that when working with a fearful dog case the main ingredient for results is TRUST. my best advice would be to move past the memory of him being at a rescue center and being scared etc..its no excuse to? teach him rules and boundaries. Otherwise in his mind, what he's doing is not wrong or bad bc its being allowed by you. Correct, address and guide him in order to maintain stability. From your videos he also seems to be full of energy. I would first start by helping him to drain some of that and make him happy by exercising him physically and mentally

I live in Harlingen, TX. A small town close to the border. I regret not taking the opportunity to study under trainers in Chicago, but am doing what you say as well. I found two schools, one in Houston and the Michael Ellis school in CA. I'd recommend watching his vids on here. I actually found a gig at PetsMart as a trainer, but the training was a joke. Everything I? apply is from my hands on experience from volunteering at the Humane Society and taking Cesar's approach with dogs.

Yea it can be tough to find the right school but they are out there. I did not go to school for what i do. Many call it self taught however this is? not entirely true. I tried to stay connected and not lose touch with my common sense along the way (which has helped me sooo much). While doing so i did (and still do)? a ton of reading and studying of diff methods, philosophies and types of training. And while ive learned a lot doing so, i must say that i have learned the most through experience with my first dog Soco, who u see in many vids (he is now 4yrs old). yes, thanks but the main reason for this is bc the dog had a muzzle on. I would never put my dog or any dog in harms way intentionally when another dog is not ready. this? was done to allow me to see how extreme the issue was and also be able to see the intent and body language displayed by the dog when the incident occured. I needed to do so in a safe way in order to be able to fully help the dog and understand the root of the aggression

at the end of the day its about helping? the dog as long as the dogs not getting hurt, rather then finding trending methods or socially acceptable methods in the eyes of the public at the time...aka ppl pleasing methods but not necessarily something that addresses the issue. Of course this is in regards to what i do primarily(working with dogs with behavioral problems). Teaching dog tricks is and getting a dog to accel often has a different route to get there

thanks for the compliment. believe it or not i believe that part of the problem with "dog training" today is bc of ppl getting too emotionally attached to a point where doing what is needed to save a dog is? not done. Some dogs have a dominance issue not all dogs. Just like people some are hyper some are very mean, some are shy, some have problems or just raised wrong. I agree not all dogs need to be shown who is the dominant one but bashing people who believe in Milan will only make them like him more. He has helped tons of dogs saved them from death. Until you do that I don't think you should bash him. The only times I face to face saw dominance? in a dog was my feral dog and my wolf dog.

Your not really looking at the problem of things arent you. For me only if my dog body slams me into the ground to get in or out of any room of the house I will stop allowing him/her to go though first.? I dont think its alpha its just a rude habbit. I dont look into dominance but I have read over 40 books about dogs and 100 about animals because I am studing to be a wildlife biologist. I have raised 16 dogs from puppies and got about 5 as adults I also foster dogs.

i agree! thats the worst and happens often. ppl end up not following through and the dog gets so bad that it ends up biting or hurting someone or another animal. THen the owners blame the trainer for not doing his or her job or get rid of the dog bc they dont want to put up w the wrk necessary to rehab. Sad but true. Not fair to continuously say "poor dog" and how you feel the owner is lying /unsure of how? often dog is walked. I know them they NOT only have a large backyard but they rescued this dog from horrible conditions AND aren't they asking you for help? (see 5:19-) Respect your paying client! Editing needs some work for sure! I have pitbulls the breed is great BUT trying to help a dog that has already been trained to fight before she rescued it. should be treated in your EDITING with more respect.

no need for a backup..the prongs themselves were snug....you r right about the collar being too loose however i did this for 2 main reasons. One the dog was conditioned to walking on the sensation of the feeling which i wanted to change to only feeling the sensation when out of sync, and 2 when tight with a dog that was? not responsive initially like this, it cause pinching/pulling of the skin and hair (not the prongs themselves but the two holes that allow the collar to contract)

I know it takes a lot of work on the owner and k9's part to get to this point. I have had GSD's from literally conception to birth and now death and aging. ? Each dog's personality is different. All training requires consistency, patience, and exposure to everything. My dogs all have a tough time with sunglasses and hats as they are like costumes and their drive is too high unless with me must be commanded, or distracted to say it more commonly.

most ppl's answer would be to train him to attack or bite, but a dog that does so and decides on his own can be potentially dangerous, unless balanced. You? would have to worry about little kids coming up to pet the dog or actual friendly ppl....then a potential lawsuit. Most ppl will not try to just take the dog and walk bc most dogs will not walk with an unknown individual.....bc of this most ppl will try to act overly or fake friendly. If your dog normally doesnt react to this in other situations, this pattern should help the dog to not get excited and openly want to greet that person. This should be enough of a deterent to have that person unsure how the dog will react. MY dog would avoid and run away but stay in the area for? me to arrive and.....

this is tough bc you do not want your dog to be aggressive and potentially bite some1 that did not mean to steal or harm him/her. You should also try not to leave the dog outside? unattended for too long in an area that might be a threat to him or you. With that said i through training a dog along the walk to walk buy ppl despite their state of emotion (excited, angry, happy, sketchy) the pattern will teach the dog not to react.
